Hi all,

After spending hours building models, crunching numbers, and staring at charts, my brain often starts lagging before my code does. So I’ve started sprinkling in micro-breaks with light browser games to reset focus without going full distraction mode.

What I look for in a break game:

Very short play sessions (2-5 minutes max)

Minimal loading / instant play

Low cognitive demand — nothing that requires full focus

Visual simplicity (so it doesn’t blast your eyes after numbers)

Some games I’ve tried: memory match (flip tiles), pattern sequence puzzles, quick logic challenges. Even just a minute or two helps me come back to modelling with fresher perspective.

I’d love to hear:

Do you do the same?

Which browser games (or micro-games) have you found particularly helpful during long data/modeling sessions?

When I need a quick break, I play Wordle or Sudoku.

I completely agree with the idea of taking short mental breaks during long modelling or coding sessions — it really helps reset focus.

Personally, I often open quick logic or tile-matching browser games for a few minutes. One that works well for me is https://www.mahjongsolitario.es/
 — it’s simple, HTML5-based, and runs smoothly in the browser without downloads. Just enough to clear the mind before diving back into analysis.

Great idea! Simple browser games that give a short break from long data models work really well. I often play mahjong for a few minutes to refresh my mind. https://www.jeu-mahjong.fr/
