HP ZGX firmware update?

Nvidia just release a major firmware update for the DGX Spark which substantially reduces idle power consumption when the ConnectX-7 adapters are not in use: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/dgx-spark-software-updates-02-2026/360362

Any ETA on when this update will be available for the HP ZGX as well? And will it be available via fwupdmgr as with other DGX Spark vendors?

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have the same issue, already opened a ticket with NVIDIA and they told me

Hi ,
Still trying to get some info, but it looks like HP has not yet shipped the corresponding FW updates that enable CX7 hotplug support so you will not see the power reduction.
“.
I wonder, can this please be solved as soon as possible, because other vendors like ASUS have already updated their Firmware as mentioned here https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/dgx-spark-power-consumption-in-idle/361845 and https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/suggestions-for-reducing-idle-power-consumption/348562/13

For the Ascent GX10 specifically: The new firmware required for the power reduction (to apply on top of the OS update) is in lvfs-testing

With the customary “this is pre-release” warning: sudo fwupdmgr enable-remote lvfs-testingfollowed by sudo fwupdmgr update.

Also gives 2GB more RAM to the OS.

Many thanks!

Kind regards,

A ZGX user :-)

ZGX Nano firmware is the DGX OS, which can be updated directly in the device in minutes. To do this, click the menu > open the DGX Dashboard > click the “update firmware” at the top. Done!

@jrgosalvez I am running the latest DGX OS but there is also a separate firmware update which Nvidia just released a few weeks ago, and I think the install process is a bit different.

“NVIDIA says the update is rolling out via over-the-air delivery and applies to partner systems built on GB10 as well, although update procedures may vary by manufacturer.”

The DGX Dashboard doesn’t show an update for me, and using ‘fwupdmgr’ doesn’t indicate an available update either. My idle power level is still ~41W and BT/WIFI cannot be disabled in UEFI so I don’t think I have the latest power savings firmware update.

Presumably, there is a bit of delay between Nvidia firmware updates for the founders edition and partner systems, but I was curious when this might happen for the HP and whether this would be delivered in the form of a service pak or via LVFS.

Thanks!

FYI, here is a similar thread regarding another vendors firmware update status: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/dgx-spark-power-consumption-in-idle/361845
In this case, the update is available in lvfs-testing but no such luck for the ZGX Nano 😥

This is unfortunate. If I had known HP would be so slow to roll out firmware updates or to even provide an ETA, I would have probably chosen a different vendor.

I will also file a ticket -- perhaps the more we file the more attention this matter will get which is typical in bureaucracies. We can always hope that someone from HP is actually listening here and can give us an update.
